Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout our facility and yard. The ideal candidate will have strong spatial awareness, experience handling heavy loads in a fast-paced industrial environment, and an uncompromising commitment to workplace safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Load, unload, move, and stack raw materials (such as lumber) and finished products safely and efficiently.
- Equipment Inspection: Conduct daily pre-operational safety checklists on forklifts to ensure mechanical integrity and report any maintenance needs immediately.
- Inventory & Logistics: Feed production lines with required materials and organize finished goods in designated storage areas or loading bays.
- Shipping & Receiving: Assist in loading and unloading commercial transport trucks, ensuring loads are secure and paperwork is accurate.
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to site speed limits, load capacities, and industrial health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Valid Forklift Operator Certification (Counterbalance/Industrial Truck).
- Experience: Proven experience operating a forklift in an industrial, manufacturing, or lumber yard environment is highly preferred.
- Skills: Excellent spatial awareness, precision handling, and a strong attention to detail.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in varying outdoor/indoor weather conditions, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs when performing manual yard duties.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate safely with spotters, pedestrians, and production teams.
Compensation & Additional Details
- Pay Rate: Competitive wage. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
