POSITION SUMMARY
The Materials Supervisor will lead and coordinate all tasks related to the Materials department, encompassing duties such as receiving, shipping, shop floor operations, planning, and managing all Point of Use locations. The Materials Supervisor will have an essential part in cultivating a constructive culture and promoting ongoing improvement and development.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Drive continuous improvement in the supply base to support business objectives by supervising the materials department team and participating in daily toolbox meetings.
- Manage staff scheduling and provide tools for daily tasks
- Assist in developing, communicating, and deploying departmental policies, guidelines, and tools to ensure process success.
- Manage the Material department budget, including indirect labor, overtime, materials supplies, communication devices, and travel expenses.
- Monitor and meet all material measurements.
- Manage key areas such as communication with other plants for shipping requirements and reducing obsolete inventory.
- Participate in the reduction of inventory adjustments by root cause and correction
- Solve problems related to uncontrollable items, cross-training, maintaining sub-inventories, and inter-organizational communication while following proper email etiquette.
- Ensure compliance with ISO procedures, work instructions, 5Ps, and promote continuous improvement within the department.
- Handle safety-related tasks, including accident/incident investigations, daily safety promotion, and compliance with safety processes and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the condition of all seasonal equipment and schedule maintenance appropriately.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- 3-5 years of previous manufacturing environment experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility
- Understanding of MRP/ERP system PICS certification an asset but not required
- Formal Supervisory education an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational, numerical and communication skills.
- Able to lead a team and provide excellent direction, clear goals and expectations.
