Reporting to the Director, Geomatics, the Senior Geomatics CAD Lead/Technologist’s primary responsibility is the calculation/preparation and production of Survey and Geomatics products, including coordination of associated project workload and portions there of. Additionally, this person will work with other CAD and Geomatics team providing mentorship, expertise and support.
Act as the primary support the Transportation, Infrastructure, Industrial, & Power projects team in the production and maintenance of survey products.
Work with Project Managers, Project Technologists and others to organize, prioritize and coordinate project workload.
Support the CAD Team Leads in mentoring junior staff regarding team specific standards and requirements.
Drive the development of both calculation and CAD procedures and processes specific to the team.
Adhere to current CAD standards and provide feedback as required.
Adhere to the use of current departmental check sheets and workflow procedures.
Ensure quality of products meet all client expectations and/or legislative requirements.
Ensure that requirements are understood and what the time allocations are to complete the assigned tasks.
Required Skills, Experience, and Behaviours
Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline; or certification in related CAD/GIS courses.
7+ years of direct related experience.
Member in good standing or eligible for registration with local Survey or Technologist Association is preferable.
Proficient in Windows; MS Word and other Microsoft Office applications. Experienced in the use of the latest versions of Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Coordinate Geometry software.
Comprehensive understanding of Calculation and CAD/GIS requirements on various surveying projects.
Thorough understanding of various legal and construction survey products and processes
Experience with Civil engineering design components (alignments, grading, volumes and site construction works).
Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organization; is a great team member.
Ability to set and work to deadlines as well as see tasks through to completion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work without supervision; effective time management and strong organizational skills.
Adaptable and able to think outside the box.
Ability to support and mentor/teach other members of the team.
