Job Summary
We are seeking a full time, dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Assistant/Floater to support our dental care team in maintaining the highest standards of sterilization and infection control. This vital role ensures that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly sterilized, organized, and ready for use. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and demonstrate flexibility in assisting different areas as needed, contributing to a safe and efficient clinical environment.
Duties
- Prepare, sterilize, and package surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Operate sterilization machinery such as autoclaves, ensuring proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory levels.
- Support multiple departments by floating between areas to address staffing needs or assist with specific tasks.
- Follow strict infection control procedures to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper handling of sharps and biohazard materials.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding equipment readiness and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting or sterile processing environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret instructions and documentation.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Flexibility to work across different departments as needed in a floater capacity.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols and safety procedures consistently.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with clinical staff and team members.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in sterile processing or healthcare support is advantageous.
