Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the student supports the monitoring of Safety Programs and works along with the Senior Safety Consultant to resolve identified issues and opportunities. This includes identifying safe work practices and procedures as required, identifying safety improvements including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions. As well, this role will support departmental projects as needed, while providing a wide range of administrative support and assistance essential to the functioning of the Occupational Health and Safety Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolment in a degree or diploma program in health and safety related field or equivalent.
  • An interest in occupational health and safety.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative and independent problem solving.
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
  • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.
