Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Biochemist to work on several novel targets for the development of novel therapeutics. Based at adMare’s Vancouver site, the successful candidate will have an MSc in biochemistry coupled with at least 5 yrs industrial experience or a PhD with 2 yrs post doctoral work. The candidate will have an exceptional grasp of state-of-the-art cell biology techniques and experience in establishing biochemical and cellular assays for mechanistic enzymology studies. Strong awareness of industry expectations is required, along with the ability to work with lab colleagues in Vancouver, Montreal and across Canada. The candidate is also expected to have knowledge in disease pathology and use of cellular models to recapitulate relevant pathological readouts. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to effectively communicate to management.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Associate Scientist in the Biology department, this hands-on candidate will:

Work with several enzyme and receptor targets and establish key readouts of cellular activity.

Provide laboratory leadership with biochemical assays and testing of key compounds and biologics.

Initiate and design of key biochemical and cellular assays that are based on principles of enzymology and GPCR pharmacology.

Analyze and interpret data to develop new hypotheses.
-
Monitor and evaluate completion of tasks and drive projects to decision points.
-
Proactively investigate new or different technologies to establish cellular relevant readouts of activity.

Present data and programs to management and external stakeholders.
Experience and Qualifications:
-
MSc/PHD and post doc in Biochemistry with significant hands-on experience in cellular biology.

Experience in establishing biochemical assays such as FRET assays, absorbance assays, ELISas and potentially ion channel readouts.

>3 yrs post graduate work in biochemistry and cell biology

Technical proficiency, scientific creativity, independent thought, and ability to effectively collaborate with others with multiple scientific disciplines.

Ability and willingness to lead from the bench.
Position Base Salary Range: $74,300 - $111,400
The salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
