Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Dietary Aid & Cook to join our dietary services team. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation and meal service while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and resident care.
The Dietary Aid & Cook will work closely with the dietary team to ensure residents receive meals that meet their dietary restrictions, preferences, and individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
- Assist with meal preparation, portioning, plating, and serving.
- Accommodate special diets, allergies, and food preferences as directed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining area.
- Wash dishes, clean equipment, and complete routine kitchen cleaning duties.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
- Monitor food supplies and assist with inventory and ordering as required.
- Work collaboratively with dietary and care team members.
- Provide friendly, respectful service to residents/clients and respond to their needs.
- Complete required documentation and follow workplace policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food-service experience is an asset.
- Food Handler certification is preferred/required.
- Experience in healthcare, retirement, long-term-care, or institutional setting is an asset.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and special diets.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, dependable, and committed to providing compassionate service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift/move kitchen supplies as required.
Pay: $19.54-$22.89 per hour
