The Indigenous Research Program within Indigenous Engagement invites applications for an Administrative Coordinator. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
Reporting to the Vice-Provost of Indigenous Engagement, the Administrative Coordinator will provide administrative support and coordination of multiple research projects and liaison across multiple research teams as well as Indigenous groups and communities. This role will ensure projects are meeting reporting requirements, and support grant funding applications.
The Administrative Coordinator, Indigenous projects plays a key role in supporting the Vice-Provost of Indigenous Engagement and the teams projects and reporting. The Administrative Coordinator is the first point of contact responsible for liaison with internal and external stakeholders and will assist with internal and external communications, grant applications, project reporting, and publications.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Responsible to maintain established programs and procedures.

Support coordination group research projects, including managing partner organization contracts.

Support project reporting requirements.

Track project budgets and expenses.
-
Coordinate file storage and upkeep including regulatory, ethical and legal documentation related to all projects.

Assist with data quality control, analyses, and reporting as required.

Support with grant applications, and associated budgets and manuscript writing as needed.

Ability to demonstrate assigned and scheduled tasks are done on own initiative and that results are beneficial to the success of the department.

Good relationships are established and maintained with all project and community members, including indigenous partners and collaborators.

Perform data entry as needed for project reporting and support.

Must maintain the ethical and confidentiality standards set by external institutions (in regards to such legislation as FOIP) as well as those internally set by the University.

Manage communications (written, web, email, multimedia) about the projects both internally and externally.

Managing communication and reporting with all stakeholders in the projects including Cumming School of Medicine, Alberta Health Services, and other partners.

Supporting grant writing for funding to support these projects.
Qualifications / Requirements:

Undergraduate degree and experience in an academic environment preferred, or equivalent experience.

2-4 years related research experience required.

Previous experience engaging with Indigenous communities is highly preferred.

In-depth understanding of ii' taa'poh'to'p, and its key concepts, particularly Parallel Paths, ethical space, and transformation.

Certification in TCPS-2 (ethics) and understanding of/experience with OCAP principals is highly preferred.

Develop and maintain a respectful and positive working relationship with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Community Organizations, University staff, and collaborators.

Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with people from different ages and backgrounds.

Strong organizational and time management skills and strong attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

Self-directed, enthusiastic and honest in the performance of duties

Ability to time manage and determine priorities

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook Mail and Calendar) and the ability to learn core university business systems (e.g. PeopleSoft)
