Your Opportunity:
The Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer Patient Navigator (HPCPN) is a specialized Registered Nurse (RN) position within UAH/ZLC GI Clinic in the EPIC (Edmonton Pancreaticobiliary Inflammation and Cancer) Program. The HPCPN role is primarily intended to support the patient and their loved ones through their entire health care journey by providing support, access to care, linkages to services in an empathetic, supportive and caring way. Based on the requirements and standards of the Provincial Cancer Patient Navigation Program, the HPCPN is available to facilitate timely access to information, support, and cancer services, for patients with confirmed cancer diagnosis and their families during key transition points along the cancer care continuum. The focus of the patient population for the HPCPN is Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic cancer patients. This support can span from first consult through treatment and follow-up, to survivorship or palliation.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three to five years of current specialized knowledge in GI, oncology, and/or endoscopy with preference given to candidates with clinical oncology experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer. Clinical oncology experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer. Recent experience with patient navigation. Completion of CCA-AHS Cancer Patient Navigation. Nursing Oncology Certificate required, e.g. CON © or O-Prep. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Ability to maintain data bases. Knowledge of research. Must have the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment of up to 20 lbs. Must be able to participate in patient assessments, moving and handling, transferring patients, walking and standing. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is required and be competent Connect Care. Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate when working with patients who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, or challenging situations, while maintaining composure and effectively managing personal stress in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
GI/Endoscopy Certificate, e.g. CSGNA competency course or Nursing Oncology Certificate preferred, e.g. CON or O-Prep. Recent navigation experience. Preference will be given to those applicants who have advanced therapies skill and knowledge of PDMP patients.
