Job Summary
The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and kitchen equipment. This role supports the kitchen team by ensuring all tools and work areas are clean, organized, and ready for efficient food service operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Dishwashing & Cleaning
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand
- Ensure all items are properly sanitized and stored in designated areas
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and equipment
- Remove garbage and recycling regularly
2. Kitchen Support
- Assist kitchen staff with basic prep work (e.g., peeling vegetables, organizing supplies) when required
- Keep kitchen floors clean and dry to ensure a safe working environment
- Refill cleaning supplies and notify management when inventory is low
3. Sanitation & Safety
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines (e.g., WHMIS standards in Canada)
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment
4. Organization
- Maintain clean and orderly storage areas for dishes and kitchen tools
- Ensure efficient workflow by keeping up with dishwashing during busy periods
- Assist in closing duties, including deep cleaning tasks
Qualifications & Requirements
- No formal education required; prior experience in a restaurant or kitchen is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness and detail
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs
- Team player with good communication skills
- Flexible availability (including evenings, weekends, and holidays)
