- Monitor weekly reports for Bookkeeping, GST Review, T2 Preparation, and T2 Missing Items, ensuring projects are prioritized and timelines are met (e.g., avoiding items in red/yellow at day’s end). Delegate tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with the Controller and team to maintain the required profitability margins for each client.
- Ensure all tax filings adhere to Emerald's, the General Accepted Accounting Principles, and CRA statutory accounting standards.
- Handle tax planning and filing for both corporate and personal taxes.
- Provide accurate quotes and billing for personal tax returns, following company pricing guidelines.
- Verify time spent on T2 files during review to ensure efficiency and meet time targets.
- Stay informed on CRA deadlines and annual filing changes to ensure compliance.
- Respond to emails and inquiries promptly, following Emerald’s established guidelines.
- Prioritize filings according to CRA deadlines for timely submissions.
- Review and file GST returns accurately.
- Maintain up-to-date records in all relevant programs, including Emerald and Sapphire's internal systems, QuickBooks, CaseWare, and ProFile.
- Adhere to office policies and procedures for consistently filing corporate and personal taxes.
In addition to the above, you will also be required to:
Manage, mentor, and support a team of accountants by overseeing direct reports and ensuring accuracy in their work. Responsibilities include training and integrating team members to align with Emerald’s mission, goals, and vision. Conduct regular reviews and monthly productivity and quality assessments, addressing any issues with senior management. You will also handle performance evaluations, including disciplinary actions and reward-based recognitions, to foster growth, accountability, and excellence within the team.
Requirements:
