Providence Centre, built in 1965 by the Sisters of Providence, is primarily the home of the Sisters. It sits on a 25-acre property with beautiful grounds, a chapel, and an oratory to the Mary Mother of Sorrows. Within Providence Centre is a Nursing Care Unit licensed to provide supportive living services. Dietary, housekeeping, linen care and maintenance services are provided in-house. Providence Centre is looking for a Receptionist to perform general reception duties. The position is Full Time Evenings. Successful candidate will be reporting to the Administrator.

Job Availability: Immediately

Hours of Work: 6.25 hours per shift, evenings with possible rotating days and weekends, may work holidays

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Operate paging/telephone, security, and intercom systems
  • Receive, screen, and direct all incoming calls to appropriate individual or department and take accurate messages if required
  • Greet and direct visitors to appropriate office and/or department
  • Monitor presence and location of visitors in the facility by issuing and collecting identification badges as visitors sign in/out
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other correspondence
  • Operate office equipment and replenish supplies as needed
  • Receive inquiries and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Maintain a current room and phone list of staff and residents as well as emergency phone numbers of on-call staff
  • Serve as communication centre for fire or other emergency situations according to guidelines established in the Emergency Response Plan
  • Perform maintenance on-call checks when working weekends and holidays according to guidelines established in on-call manual
  • Adhere to the principles of a safe and healthy workplace and to all safe work practices and procedures of Providence Centre

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Possess a positive attitude and the ability to deal respectfully and pleasantly with staff, sisters, family members, visitors, guests and the general public
  • Possess, as a minimum, a High School diploma
  • One year experience in a clerical position is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite Programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be fluent in the English Language, written and verbal
  • Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
