The Opportunity
McElhanney is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Civil Engineering Technologist to join our growing Municipal / Land Development teams in Victoria, BC. In this role, you will further develop your design expertise while contributing to a diverse portfolio of private and public sector projects, including municipal infrastructure, subdivisions, and multi-family developments.

What You’ll Do
- Prepare detailed engineering designs and drawings for municipal and land development projects, including water, sanitary, stormwater systems, roadworks, and site grading
- Transform concepts, sketches, and field data into accurate design plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Develop technical documentation, including design reports, cost estimates, and tender packages for approvals and construction
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards
- Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve design and field challenges using sound engineering judgment
- Support contract administration, construction coordination, and technical review processes as required
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in civil consulting or a similar technical environment
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required
- Registration (or eligibility) as an AScT or similar accreditation is considered an asset
- Experience in road, stormwater, sanitary, and water system design or modeling, and/or construction inspection is an asset
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to clients and stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communication
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $115,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
