About the Company
We are a growing group of companies operating across multiple industries, including building supply retail, self-storage, and property management (residential and commercial). We are seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support leadership with actionable financial insights.
This role reports directly to ownership and plays a key part in driving operational and financial excellence across the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain full-cycle accounting for multiple entities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies
- Analyze financial performance and provide insights to leadership
- Perform cost and margin analysis
- Maintain general ledgers and working papers
- Coordinate year-end processes with external accountants
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes across entities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and treasury functions
- Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliations
- Monitor daily cash flow and prepare bank reconciliations
- Ensure timely month-end close and reporting (by the 10th of each month)
- Prepare tenant invoicing and annual statements (commercial properties)
- Support operational management alongside ownership
Compliance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local regulations
- Coordinate year-end close (within 45 days)
- Work with external auditors and accountants
- Oversee tax filings (corporate, sales tax, payroll remittances)
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support accounting staff and bookkeepers
- Participate in hiring and training
- Promote strong internal controls and efficient workflows
Additional Responsibilities
- Liaise with banks, lawyers, accountants, and insurance providers
- Support POS and operational systems (SiteLink, Rona POS)
- Assist with bookkeeping across entities (some remote coordination required)
- Occasional travel to Vancouver (travel and meals covered)
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred)
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven leadership and team development experience
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and professional judgment
