Georg Fischer Piping Systems Canada is a leading Manufacturer of pre-insulated pipe systems to the municipal, HVAC, mining, and industrial sectors for over 50 years. It has more than 150 employees and two plants located in Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec and in Calmar, Alberta and one warehouse located in Vaughan, Ontario.
We are seeking a Valves Assembler for our Vaughan, Ontario warehouse (Woodbridge).
Summary:
The Valves Assembler will perform routine and repetitive assembly operations and processes in the warehouse. This person will report directly to the Operation Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure selection of proper components
- Complete assembly of components to customer specifications and drawings
- Perform testing of assembled valves and keeping proper records
- Material handling of components as needed
- Follow standard work practice-method sheet and instructions
- Maintain good housekeeping, follow lean Manufacturing Process
- Report to the supervisor any damages or malfunction of the equipment and tools
- Ensure use of appropriate safety equipment
- Utilize computer systems effectively for daily task management
- Plan work efficiently to ensure maximum productivity
- Accurately record time and materials in the ERP system for project tracking
- Adhere to company policies and safety rules
- Can be assign to other duties in the fabrication department or in the warehouse when the workload will not be sufficient during a work week.
- Processing of work orders including prioritizing, distributing, tracking, inspecting, completing and performing associated work such as assembly, integration, testing, quality inspection, and packaging.
- Coordination of work which flows from material operation functions down through assembly and secondary to shipping and/or stock
- Expediting “RUSH” and crucial orders through the different departments involved, to insure timely shipping.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience within a mechanical environment (an asset) Knowledge of general Assembly and Testing
- Two years experience in a production environment, a plus
- College degree or equivalent, preferred
- Computer skills will be required Microsoft Office and Excel and most have experience of using a ERP software
- Read a tape measures and precision measuring tools including Vernier caliper
- Ability to read and follow standard operation procedures (SOP)
- Ability to read blueprints / drawings and follow engineering instructions towards tolerances
- Ability to use general Assembly tools (band saws, thread cutting equipment, etc.)
- Basic mathematics skills required
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Knowledge of plastic welding, a plus
- Knowledge of Machine Shop tools and Machines a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to discern various colors (wires, electronic components, etc.).
- Ability to perform typical field activities including but limited to: ability to lift up to 30-35lbs and occasionally 50 pounds, Climbing ladders, using catwalks, standing, bending, reaching with hand and arms, carrying equipment, accessing small spaces, stooping.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Abilities
- If operating forklift – must maintain certification
- Follows the procedures as presented in the Employee Handbook, department procedures, captures contact information, and follows verbal, written or diagram instructions as provided by supervisors and managers
- Ability to drive with valid drivers license for valid Company reasons (occasionally)
- Presents professional communication skills (verbal, written, e-mails) and professional attitude with customers, distributors, vendors and other company personnel.
Work schedule:
- Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Pay: $24.03 per hour
