Under the leadership of the chief of service, the head nurse or their delegate, the incumbent is a person whose function is to ensure the hygiene, well-being and surveillance of the users. She/he sees to the comfort, general needs and mobility of the users within a safe environment. She/he assists the users in moving about within the facility, transports them and may also accompany them outside the establishment.

She/he provides basic care to the users and provides information to the health care team about the health status and behaviour of the users.

She/he may be called upon to install certain devices for which she/he has received the proper training. She/he may be responsible for ensuring the availability, maintenance and functioning of equipment and material. She/he carries equipment, collected samples and medical records.

Principal duties and responsibilities:
  • Supports the philosophy of nursing through effective collaboration with other members of the nursing team to provide patient-centered care that respects the unique individual needs of each patient
  • Person whose function is the surveillance, occupation, hygiene and well-being of patients
  • Participates as an active and collaborative member of the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Communicates and cooperates with all members in order to maintain a highly functioning team where safe quality patient care is the outcome
  • Sees to the comfort and general needs of patients and families and assists them in moving about
  • Provides basic care to beneficiaries and can be called upon to set up certain supportive equipment
  • Informs those in charge and other members of the nursing team of the behavior and changes in the behavior of the patient
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements :
  • Certification as a “Préposé aux bénéficiaires” or equivalent certification/experience.
  • Physically fit, as evaluated by the hospital Health Service.
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills, behaves respectfully with patients/families and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Sense of responsibility and confidentiality.
  • Bilingual: English/French.
