We're Hiring: Group Cost Controller
Niradia Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Group Cost Controller to oversee cost control, project costing, and financial accuracy across our diverse portfolio of businesses.
The Niradia Group includes companies operating in construction, real estate development, mechanical contracting, and property management. As our organization continues to grow, we're looking for someone who thrives on numbers, accountability, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
About the Role
This is a senior role responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of project costs across all companies within the group. You will work closely with project managers, estimators, operations teams, and accounting staff to ensure every dollar spent is properly allocated, accurately reported, and continuously monitored.
Your objective is simple: ensure our costing is accurate, our reporting is reliable, and our projects remain financially on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify construction and development job costs across multiple projects.
- Monitor project budgets, committed costs, and actual expenditures.
- Identify cost overruns, discrepancies, coding errors, and financial risks before they become larger issues.
- Ensure labour, subcontractor, equipment, material, and overhead costs are accurately allocated.
- Perform regular job cost audits across all operating companies.
- Work with project managers to reconcile budgets and forecast project profitability.
- Develop and maintain standardized cost reporting across the group.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports for ownership and senior management.
- Analyze project performance and recommend improvements to increase profitability.
- Review purchase orders, subcontract agreements, change orders, and invoices for cost accuracy.
- Assist in developing cost control procedures and best practices across all companies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
Qualifications
- CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required.
- 5+ years of experience in construction accounting, job costing, cost control, or project finance.
- Strong understanding of construction and development project costing.
- Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
- Experience with construction accounting software is an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and financial risks.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge numbers when they don't make sense.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly organized, and committed to accuracy. They enjoy digging into financial details, asking questions, and ensuring costs are recorded correctly. They don't simply report numbers—they understand what the numbers are telling the business.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to play a key part in improving profitability across a growing and diversified group of companies.
