Brief Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Plant Accountant, the Plant Accountant plays an integral role in the Finance team. The Plant Accountant will be accountable for providing accounting, financial reporting, information systems, and analytical support for production management. Key components of this role include ensuring accurate financial and costing reporting, improving the understanding of key business to maximize results and the identification and implementation of best practices.
Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyzes production costs, including direct labor, direct materials and yield rate, and overhead expenses.
- Identifies cost trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings.
- Provides insights to improve cost efficiency.
- Prepares weekly prices and uploads to customers’ portal.
- Manages and reconciles inventory records, including tracking raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Ensures accurate valuation of inventory and performs periodic inventory counts.
- Prepares and presents accurate and timely Operating Expenses Report and Billing variance reports.
- Provides plant management with financial insights and recommendations.
- Collaborates with plant management to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
- Monitors actual performance against budgeted figures and analyze variations.
- Leads the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Analyzes and explains significant variances between actual financial results and budgeted figures.
- Collaborates with plant management to address deviations and make necessary adjustments.
- Establishes and maintains internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensure accurate financial transactions, and comply with company policies and regulations.
- Ensures adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company financial policies.
- Assists with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Conducts specialized financial analyses as requested by plant management or corporate finance.
- These analyses may include cost-benefit assessments, scenario modeling, and performance evaluations.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and supply chain, to gather data and insights that impact financial performance.
- Assists Accounts Payable to verify vendor invoices and supporting documents and enter them in financial system for payment process.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline financial processes within the plant. Implement best practices and improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Presents daily/ weekly/ monthly labor cost report to plant management in a clear and understandable manner.
- Provides recommendations to optimize plant operating performance.
- Stays updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Raw Yield Rate gain from daily yield rate review with the team.
- Labor Cost Saving from daily labor report communication with the team.
- DG Cost savings generated through alternative suppliers.
- Reduce obsolesce/stock loss.
Position Requirements & Skills
- Active designation for CPA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent.
- Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of managing an accounting team.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of ERP system.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
- Passion to learn, inspire and lead.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and mentorship skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
- Typically works from Monday to Friday with occasional weekend requirements.
