located on the James Smith Cree Nation

The East Central First Nations Education Authority (ECFNEA) is committed to providing

The Authority focuses on developing and implementing Culture and Cree Language
Programs that address the needs of the First Nation communities it serves: the
Chakastaypasin Band of the Cree Nation, the James Smith Cree Nation, and the Peter
Chapman Band.

The ECFNEA’s facilities include the Bernard Constant Community School located on
James Smith Cree Nation (JSCN) and a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.

The School
The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre-K-Grade 12 school serving
approximately 394 students enrolled in its nursery to Grade 12 Programs, with a
professional staff of more than 30 teachers and a full complement of support staff. The
focus of the Bernard Constant Community School is Trauma-sensitive Programming,
with a full complement of a Wellness Team, a comprehensive Cree Language Program
for all grades and divisions, along with a Land-based Learning Program, a Cultural
Program, a Sports Academy Program, and a Treaty Essential Learning Program.

There are currently no accommodations available within the community. School staff
travel into the community from local towns and cities such as Melfort and Prince Albert,
Saskatchewan.

Position Title - Cook’s Assistant
Under the direct supervision of the Principal at Bernard Constant Community School,
the Cook’s Assistant is responsible for cleaning up after breakfast, snack(s), and
lunchtime, as well as assisting the cook with prescribed preparation and cooking duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Clerk are as follows:

assisting the cook in all aspects of delivering a hot-lunch/hot-supper scenario;
clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units;
operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware;

place dishes in storage area;
prepping food as required;
sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand; and
scour pots and pans.

Qualifications
The successful applicant should have the following qualifications:

Grade 12 diploma; and
Safe-food Handling Certificate; and

experience with institutional cooking scenarios.

A satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory. A
valid Driver’s license is required. A Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and
a First Aid Certificate would be an asset.

The successful candidate must possess the Strong knowledge of and awareness of
indigenous First Nation culture and history with an emphasis of trauma, family violence,
indigenous youth engagement and community outreach.

Preference will be given to members of the First Nations participating in the East
Central First Nation Education Authority.

Salary and Benefits
Salary/Wages are commensurate with experience. Extended health benefits, vacation or
holiday pay, and personal/sick leave may be available depending on contract terms.
