BMG Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the design and execution of mechanical systems for underground and surface mining and industrial applications. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professional Engineers and gain hands-on experience with real-world engineering projects while progressing toward P.Eng. licensure.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the design and analysis of mechanical systems, including:
o Material handling systems
o Piping and pumping systems
o Mechanical equipment and machinery
o Structural steel interfaces and equipment supports
· Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
· Develop layouts, equipment arrangements, and mechanical details
· Support fabrication and construction packages
· Participate in site visits to underground and surface operations (as required)
· Coordinate with structural, electrical, and fabrication teams
· Assist with QA/QC reviews and compliance with applicable codes and standards
· Support preparation of technical reports, scopes of work, and cost estimates
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
· Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional
Engineers Ontario (PEO)
· Strong mechanical fundamentals and problem-solving skills
· Proficiency with CAD software (Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD considered an asset)
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license (site travel may be required)
Assets:
· Exposure to pumps, piping, conveyors, crushers, or bulk material handling systems
· Familiarity with CSA standards, OHSA, and industrial regulations
· Experience supporting fabrication or construction activities
