Role Description:
The Junior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the daily financial operations of the club, handling a combination of accounting and administrative responsibilities. Working under the guidance of the Financial Controller, the Junior Accountant ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll, assists with both accounts receivable and payable functions and supports year-end audit preparations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving and managing member inquiries.
As the initial point of contact for many club members, the Junior Accountant must demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication abilities, and a strong service-oriented mindset. The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, respond to member inquiries with accuracy and respect, and collaborate effectively with executives and other staff members is crucial for success in this role.
This position is ideal for a candidate with foundational accounting knowledge who is eager to grow their skills in payroll, account management, and general accounting practices. A clean security check is required, and familiarity with accounting software such as ADP and Jonas will be advantageous. The Junior Accountant will also provide backup administrative support as needed, making this a versatile role within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Payroll and Staff Transactions:
· Process and manage bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
· Handle staff transactions, including setup, transfers, wage changes, promotions, and terminations.
Accounts Receivable and Member Interactions:
· Administer accounts receivable, including responding to member inquiries and processing member payments.
· Administer and process pre-authorized payments.
· Maintain and update member accounts and files with information changes as required.
Accounts Payable and Financial Processing:
· Manage accounts payable by maintaining vendor lists, recording invoices, and check processing.
· Conduct daily sales reporting, cash outs, bank deposits and reconciliation.
Year-End Processes and Audit Support:
· Assist the Financial Controller with year-end processes, including audit preparations.
Administrative and Departmental Support:
· Monitor and respond to emails for the accounting department.
· Handle mail pickups and deliveries throughout the week.
· Provide administrative backup support as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience or qualifications in payroll are an asset.
- Familiarity with ADP or Jonas software is considered advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of payroll and accounting practices.
- A clean security check is required.
