Job Title: English as a Second Language (ESL) CELPIP Preparation Instructor (Online)
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM PST/PDT

Note: Course launch and subsequent course sessions are run on a week-by-week basis and are dependent on confirmed student enrollment numbers. Teaching hours are confirmed at least one week in advance.
The Canadian College of English Language (CCEL) is seeking an experienced and engaging CELPIP Preparation Instructor to teach synchronous online evening classes for our new CELPIP Preparation course. In this role, you will help students build CELPIP-specific test-taking strategies, develop key CLB English language competencies, and achieve their target scores on the CELPIP-General test.
All core curriculum and teaching materials are provided; however, instructors are encouraged to supplement with their own resources as desired to meet individual student needs. This is a fully remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, student-centred CELPIP Preparation ESL lessons via Zoom.
- Teach targeted skills and strategies for all four test components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Provide regular constructive, actionable feedback on student task performance aligned with official CELPIP descriptors.
- Adapt provided materials to address specific student needs and learning goals as needed.
- Maintain a professional, supportive, and encouraging virtual learning environment.
- Communicate concerns or issues to the academic director proactively.
Qualifications & Skills
- Fluent in English (CLB 12/IELTS 9.0 equivalent or successful completion of a bachelor’s degree at an English-speaking institution).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (any discipline; English, Linguistics, Humanities, Education preferred) from an accredited institution.
- Certification: TESL Canada recognized teacher training certificate, CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or equivalent (including MA TESOL)
- Experience: 2+ years of ESL teaching experience in Canada or abroad.
- Specialization: Demonstrated experience teaching CELPIP Preparation courses or working as a CELPIP rater.
- Technology Skills: Strong proficiency with Zoom, digital learning tools, and remote teaching best practices.
- Professional Remote Workspace: Access to a quiet, private location with high-speed internet and a functional computer with a clear webcam and microphone to host live Zoom lessons.
- Soft Skills: Strong reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and patience are non-negotiable.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid open work permit holder). Sponsorship is not provided for this position.
