In this role, under the direction of the Supervisor, you will provide confidential support to the Stem Cell registry customers (including donors), case managers, and external stakeholders such as Transplant Centres and International Registries. You will support the Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell registry search and case management functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinating blood sample collection appointments with internal and external collection facilities.
Coordinating and preparing blood sample collection kits for confirmatory typing and pre-collection blood samples.
Contacting donors identified as a potential match to a patient in need of a stem cell transplant.
Coordinating all extended typing requests from the Transplant Centres and the International Registries for Canadian and International Donors.
Coordinating and facilitating all confirmatory typing requests for international and Canadian donors.
Coordinating International donor work-ups and cord blood requests.
Verifying billing for International and Canadian donor extended HLA typing and confirmatory typing accounts.
Coordinating the cancellation and closure of patient searches pre-transplant and patient files post-transplant.
Monitoring requests and forwarding responses for patient updates.
Monitoring, coordinating and evaluating post-transplant surveys.
Coordinating annual follow up of GCSF stimulated PBSC.
Facilitating anonymous correspondences between donors and recipients and requests for exchange of personal information between donors and recipients.
Documenting adverse reactions and events; completing and forwarding SEAR and SPEAR monthly report, as required.
Performing other administrative duties in support of the Stem Cell registry transplant coordination activities, as required.
Education, Training and Experience:
Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a community college diploma in Medical Office/Laboratory Assistant or Office Administration.
A minimum of three years of related office experience, preferable within a medical environment is required.
Knowledge of the Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell registry program is a definite asset.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong verbal communication skills are essential.
Very strong organizational skills and the ability to efficiently and independently organize workload priorities.
Must be able to work effectively in a team or independently.
Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of internal customers and external agencies with tact and discretion.
Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office. Must have some knowledge of online based data systems.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
Ability to work under pressure to accurately and thoroughly complete tasks in a timely fashion.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in relation to donor/patient information is a must.
Focus on excellent customer service is essential due to the interactions with donors and other external stakeholders.
