Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, versatile Senior Concrete Forming Estimator to join our team. The role requires 10+ years of dedicated experience in concrete formwork estimating.
Our firm specializes in a diverse project portfolio spanning high-end custom residential estates and premium ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) builds. You will manage the entire tendering process from initial blueprints to final bid submission for projects across Simcoe County and surrounding regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Dual-Sector Take-offs: Conduct meticulous quantity take-offs for complex architectural custom homes and structural ICI buildings
- Cost Estimating: Build accurate budgets covering specialized architectural formwork, custom concrete finishes, mass pours, rebar and labour
- Bid Strategy: Develop profitable bids tailored to different procurement methods, from custom residential design-builds to formal ICI tenders
- Supplier Relations: Negotiate pricing with local aggregate suppliers, engineering firms, and specialized subcontractors
- Risk & Value Engineering: Identify structural challenges and propose alternative forming methods to save time or costs without reducing quality.
- Field Handover: Partner closely with project managers and site superintendents to ensure seamless transition from bid to build.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of construciton estimating experience, with a heavy focus on concrete forming and strcutral systems
- Sector Knowledge: Proven track records estimating both custom and residential concrete (foundations, architectural walls) and ICI projects
- Software Skills: Advanced proficiency with digital take-off and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and MS Excel
- Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of concrete mix designs, forming systems, local Ontario building codes, and safety standards.
- Local Network: Strong familiarity with the Simcoe County construction market, sub-trades, and local logistical conditions
- Credentials: Valid G Class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits.
