This role is a player-coach position that unites all aspects of a product under a single, cohesive technical vision. You will work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Developers, UX, and other cross-functional teams to lead decisions around how we deliver features that delight and engage customers for the Retail Petro-Canada mobile application and PetroCanada.ca.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Eight years of experience in software development
Four years of experience in a lead role developing mobile and/or web applications
Five years experience designing and developing with IOS/Android mobile native technologies, architecture, frameworks, and APIs
Experience with Agile solution development methodologies and with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of Agile Frameworks, DevOps Automation, and cloud platform and services
Ability to communicate directly with business and technical stakeholders to identify needs, troubleshoot problems, collaborate on new designs, and write technical documentation
Ability to quickly learn new languages and frameworks , and independently researching and implementing solutions to technical problems
A detail-oriented professional who can bring enthusiasm and innovation to product teams
Be the primary technical point of contact for Retail Petro-Canada Mobile application and PetroCanada.ca
Lead technology design, development, testing, and implementation of application enhancements and upgrades with a focus on solutions that are easily maintainable, highly scalable, tested, and good quality
Ensure technology designs and implementations solve clients’ requirements and challenges, reliable operations, and maximal uptime
Analyze complex requirements and develop IT strategies and multi-technology solutions that are aligned with industry-accepted best practices
Stay on top of leading-edge technologies integrating mobile (iOS and Android), with modern cloud platforms and services
Understand business and technical requirements, and assess multiple technical alternatives to recommend the most optimal solution design/architecture, as well as lead technical -design discussions and help drive technical decision, and propose design optimizations
Create relevant documentation as required including conceptual design, logical and physical designs, as-built diagrams, knowledge transfer materials, FAQs
Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex production system issues, including critical issues that might occur outside of normal business hours
Location and other Key Details:
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the ability to be “on-call” 24/7 to support operational incidents and service level commitments on a rotation
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave SW
There may be times within the year that requires involvement on site to implement and monitor new IT solutions
Relocation support will be provided if required
