Lead Metal Fabricator/Supervisor
Apollo Machine and Products Ltd. — Saskatoon, SK Full-time | Monday–Friday,
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Occasional overtime Wage: $34–42/hr, based on experience
About Us
Apollo Machine and Products has been family-owned and operating in Saskatchewan for
over 50 years. We manufacture roller mills and grain augers (through our subsidiary Edge
Agro), and take on custom fabrication work spanning railway, aluminum, stainless, and
regular steel — no two days look the same.
We operate out of a new, modern facility with electrified parking for the winter
months. We stay lean and nimble by design: we don’t hire and lay off with the cycles.
Our people tell us we pay better than most manufacturers in town, and that job security
is what keeps them here. We have long-term staff who’ve built real careers with us —
not just jobs.
The Role
We’re looking for a Lead Fabricator who is industrious, self-driven, and genuinely
comfortable leading — someone who can make a call, give clear direction, and take
ownership of a decision without waiting to be told what to do. This is a hands-on
leadership role: you’ll be on the shop floor fabricating alongside your team, not just
managing from the sidelines.
You’ll be the final checkpoint for quality control on our floor, working directly with our
leadership team to solve problems that fall outside your crew’s day-to-day expertise.
You’ll also help us keep projects on track and moving as scheduled.
Because we’re a small, agile manufacturer, the job will shift day to day.
You may be pulled off a regular task to jump on an urgent project or pick up a new skill.
We need someone who can work independently, adapt on the fly, and not need a
playbook for every situation.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, direct, and coordinate the fabrication crew on a daily basis, including morning meetings to set priorities and delegate work.
- Work hands-on in production alongside the team — this is a working leadership role, not a desk job
- Serve as the final quality control check before projects are considered complete.
- Oversee project timelines and flag issues before they become delays.
- Work closely with our Sales Manager to make sure jobs stay on time and on budget
- Partner with the leadership team to troubleshoot problems beyond the crew’s scope.
- Provide input and ideas to help improve our shop processes over time
- Read and interpret technical drawings, using trigonometry and shop math to guide
- fabrication.
- Step in on new or urgent projects as priorities shift, and help train others as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–8 years of metal fabrication experience
- 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Welding qualification/certification (priority given)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, with working knowledge of
- trigonometry
- Comfortable giving direction, making decisions, and holding a team accountable
- Grade 12 minimum; related trade certifications a strong asset
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Forklift/Bobcat certification an asset (training provided if not already certifified)
Apollo Machine and Products is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and
productive workplace. All employees are expected to follow shop safety policies and
procedures at all times, including proper use of PPE and safe operation of tools and
equipment.
What We Offer
- Competitive wages — our staff consistently tell us we pay better than most shops in
- town
- Extended health care, dental, disability, and life insurance
- Minimum 3 weeks vacation to start, based on experience
- Electrified parking through the winter
- Real job security in a company that doesn’t cycle through layoffs
- A stable, long-tenured team and a workplace where initiative is noticed and rewarded
If you’re someone who’s tired of being told what to do all day and ready to be the one
giving direction — while still getting your hands dirty every day — we’d like to hear from
you.
Probation and training period will be determined upon selection of successes candidate.
