The Opportunity
The Mental Health Operations Manager oversees daily operations, service‑delivery systems, financial management, and administrative functions of Akoka Tissini Mental Wellness. Reporting to the Health Director, the Manager ensures programs operate efficiently, safely, and in alignment with trauma‑informed, culturally grounded, and community‑centered care. The role coordinates case management and departmental planning, collaborates with caregivers (with client permission) and monitors updates of treatment plans, and strengthens the capacity of internal and external stakeholders to address mental‑health needs.
The position supports clinical and non‑clinical teams, maintains quality and compliance standards, enhances client experience, and contributes to the long‑term sustainability of Akoka Tissini’s wellness initiatives.
Role & Responsibilities
As the Healthcare Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in:
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of mental‑health and wellness programs, ensuring smooth and effective service delivery.
- Manage scheduling, caseload distribution, and workflow coordination for clinical and support staff.
- Implement and refine operational processes, SOPs, and service‑delivery protocols.
- Monitor program performance indicators, including wait times, client flow, and service utilization.
- Coordinate and participate in case‑management, consultation, and departmental planning activities.
- With client permission, oversee consultations with caregivers and significant others to guide the updating or reassessment of treatment plans and intervention strategies.
- Oversee and assist with the planning and implementation of program enhancements.
- Analyze departmental operations and identify areas requiring improvement.
- Document the daily activities of the healthcare team and submit detailed reports on a regular basis.
- Schedule, conduct, and attend regular staff meetings.
- Communicate effectively and use a professional approach with all team members, managers, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health Management, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field (master’s degree an asset).
- Certification or training in trauma‑informed care, Indigenous cultural safety, or mental‑health leadership is an asset.
- Valid First Aid/CPR and crisis‑intervention training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with First Nation Communities or in a First Nation Administration in a Management role
- Proven ability to utilize and implement Microsoft Office Suites
- A demonstrated ability to deliver on major collaborative partnerships with various entities and departments in a timely and professional manner
Knowledge & Skills:
- 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in mental health, community wellness, social services, or healthcare operations.
- Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and managing service‑delivery workflows.
- Background in mental‑health program operations, including intake coordination, case‑management oversight, or crisis‑response support.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or culturally diverse populations.
- Proven experience in quality assurance, compliance, and policy implementation.
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting needs, and optimizing operational resources.
- Experience implementing or managing digital health or wellness platforms.
· Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) or case‑management systems; ability to generate reports and ensure data accuracy.
· Strong data‑analysis skills using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with project‑management platforms
- Knowledge of mental‑health privacy legislation, safety protocols, and ethical guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and external engagement.
- Crisis‑management and risk‑mitigation skills to support staff and ensure client safety.
