Job Overview
Mainsteel Inc. is looking for an experienced Shop Manager. The Shop Manager will be responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, productivity, safety, and quality control of all shop operations. This role oversees welders, fabricators, apprentices, and shop labourers while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to required specifications. The Shop Manager serves as the operational leader of the shop floor and acts as the primary liaison between production staff, project management, estimating, and senior management.

LOCATION: 701 Powerline Road, Brantford
BENEFITS: After completion of three (3) month probationary period
HOURS: (44) plus potential Overtime
Qualifications
- 2 + years’ experience in welding, fabrication, millwrighting, or industrial maintenance
- Previous supervisory, foreman, or shop leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication processes
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience with production scheduling and shop coordination
- Knowledge of estimating and material take-offs considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills
- Valid driver’s license required
Required Capabilities:

- Oversee daily operations of the fabrication and millwright shop
- Supervise welders, fitters, millwrights, apprentices, and shop helpers
- Schedule manpower, production workflow, and shop priorities
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate material requirements and inventory levels
- Assist with estimating, quotations, and job costing
- Maintain quality control and ensure workmanship standards are met
- Enforce health & safety policies and safe work practices
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and shop organization
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and project managers
Preferred Assets
· Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) License
· Welder (456A) Certification
· CWB experience
· Forklift and overhead crane experience
· Working at Heights Certification
· Proficiency with Excel, Bluebeam, or shop management software
