GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Mental Health Facilitator (MHF) provides in-house mental health consultation and support services to the Personal Injury Representatives (PIRs) who handle injury claims that have added complexity due to a mental health illness that may be accident-related (e.g., traumatic brain injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, concussion), pre-existing (e.g., anxiety, substance abuse), or from a condition that emerges later in the claim cycle (e.g., dementia, depression). The Mental Health Facilitator has a strong understanding of the provincial mental health system and the supports available. The incumbent reviews medical reports/files and interprets medical and mental health/psychological terminology, standards, conditions, and treatments. The MHF liaises between medical professionals, mental health providers, employers, external case coordinators and PIRs and provides case management consultation services to PIRs and direction to service providers.
The Mental Health Facilitator works closely with the Medical Facilitators to understand and support how the customers' mental health challenges impede their physical rehabilitation.
