Position: IDC/BCANDS National Coordinator

Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Position Type: 7 month - Term Management Position - September 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027 (possibility of extension)
Salary/Benefits - $63,700 annually, including benefits as per IDC/BCANDS policies (after successful 3-month probation)
Hours of Work – 35 hr/week – Monday to Friday -
Travel: Required

BROAD POSITION DESCRIPTION
The National Coordinator will directly oversee various organizational capacity, awareness and engagement initiatives as directed and supported by the Chief Executive Officer.
BROAD DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
The BCANDS National Coordinator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Researching and accurately recording various data sets/systems in relation to Indigenous Peoples, disabilities and social programs across Canada;
- Coordination with various governments (Indigenous, federal, provincial, territorial) across Canada;
- Policy review, update, development and implementation
- Strategic planning
- Awareness strategies, campaigns
- Fund development
- Partnership development
- Board and organizational capacity initiatives
- Program and staff supervision / HR
- Information collection/stakeholder engagement
- Other duties as directed
- Computer abilities
- Ability to travel as required/directed

Desired Abilities / Experience
- Possess experience and understanding relating to current and historical events affecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada with the ability to perform duties in a culturally and trauma-informed manner
- Working knowledge of Indigenous, federal, provincial and territorial government structures across Canada
- Understanding of disability, intersectionality and GBA+
- Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Ability to produce accurate, timely and relevant information and reports
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a variety of formats
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work well with others and follow directives

Bachelor’s Degree preferability in Social / Human Services or administration. *An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered;
experience in a supervisory position;
- Must possess a Valid Class Driver’s License and daily access to a reliable vehicle (exceptions may be considered)
- Must successfully pass a police background check
