What You’ll Be Doing
As the Consultant, Professional Services, you will be reporting to the Director, Professional Services and will be responsible for assisting with new business and Will Departments activities relating to the acceptance of new clients in CIBC Trust. You will also manage the review schedule of policies and procedures and assist with the updates as required. Other work includes regulatory implementation, compliance and work in advancing strategic initiatives.

How You'll Succeed
Immediate & Deferred New Business - Daily monitoring of the New Business Mailbox, reviewing submissions for completeness, accuracy and risk identification and assessment. Respond to questions from Sales on new business, procedures and policies. Track new business both approved and declined and provide Senior Management with trends based on Sales person/geographic/type of business, etc. Identify trends in gaps for training opportunities and/or process improvements. Participate in any projects relating to strategic sales initiatives.
Policies & Procedures review - Maintain a schedule of reviews for all of CIBC Trust policies and procedures and assist in updates and the creation of new ones.
Risk Management, Regulatory and Compliance - Assist with monitoring compliance with certain Policies and Procedures. Review cash balance/overdraft reporting and identify gaps/discrepancies. Complete quarterly key accountability reviews within set timelines, review transactions in accounts for incapable POAs as well as assist in ensuring AML and ITC requirements are being met. Participate in other regulatory activities including maintaining reporting and attending meetings as the delegate for the Director, Professional Services.
Wills Department Activities - Vet legal documents and gather required information. Ensure that Wills/POAs drafted by external lawyers are clear, meet CIBC Trust standards and include required provisions. Communication with Sales, clients, lawyers, other internal departments and financial institutions. Support Wills Administrator by responding to questions as they arise.
Who You Are
You’re a certified professional. Preferred professional LL.B qualifications and member in good standing with a provincial Law Society, or other international legal qualifications. Alternatively, Associate Member or Fellow Member Law Clerks of the Institute of Law of Ontario. MTI or TEP designations or commitment to obtain on an accelerated basis.
You have 1-2 years of experience within the Estate & Trust industry or other related professional experience. Experience working in a financial institution is also an asset.
