Hillside Gardens has been farming the rich soil of the Holland Marsh since 1935. Today, the company has growing and packing operations in Ontario and Georgia serving retail, food service and food processing businesses in both Canada and the United States of America. The company grows carrots, onions, celery, cauliflower, beets, turnips and parsnips.
The Opportunity
The company is looking for an experienced farm technician/manager to work in Bradford, Ontario reporting to the Farm Manager.
Experience Required
The successful candidate will have the following experiences:
*Minimum 10 years total, 5 years minimum experience in farm management, plus 5 years as farm technician
*Managing, directing and evaluating crews of farm workers
*Hands on operation of planting and harvesting equipment
*Hands on repair and maintenance of tractors, seeders and harvesters
*Handling and application of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides
*Operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment
General Credentials
*Post secondary education focussed on farm management
*Fluency in reading, writing and communicating in English
*First aid certification
Remuneration
*$24.50 per hour
*2 weeks paid vacation per annum
