The Program Coordinator ensures the academic quality and smooth operations of Tamwood Career programs.
Responsibilities:
Academic:

Conduct monthly orientation for new students

Train new teachers
-
Ensure adequate staffing and sub coverage for absent teachers

Receive and act on any academic concerns from Whistler teachers
-
Conduct or help conduct PACs to review the Careers programs’ curriculum every 2 years

Carries out other related duties as required
Operational
-
Ensure correct number of teachers for each program based on confirmed starts
-
Update orientation PowerPoint and student handbook as needed
-
Ensure Moodle shells are up to date
-
Monthly check the marks and attendance averages of students who are finishing their study term and ensure students are in good academic standing to start their Co-op term or Capstone Project
-
Ensuring Diplomas and Certificates are issued, provided students have completed all grad requirements or supervise the assistant tasked with the job.

Conduct teacher observations annually and when required, provide additional training/support for teachers who may fall below Tamwood standards

Weekly forecasting for future students to ensure correct staffing levels and that we have enough classroom space for all classes

Create letters of enrolment upon request

Set up trial lessons for students upon BDM requests

Help ensure student files are PTIB compliant

Carries out other related duties as required
Qualifications:
-
Degree/diploma/certificate related to Hospitality & Tourism
-
At least 2 years of successful relevant experience

Ability to work in a pressurized, fast-paced environment
-
Ability to use MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-
Ability to use Moodle
-
Ability to manage staff (teachers) and work in a team with other departments
-
Familiarity with the Hospitality industry in Whistler is considered an asset
Schedule:
Monday to Thursday, with occasional Friday work as needed
This position is outlined as part-time (from 8:45 am to 2:15 pm) with an annual salary of $35,000. If a full-time position (from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm) is considered, the salary will be adjusted accordingly. The part-time and full-time role will encompass responsibilities related to academic and operational duties, as well as teaching our Hospitality & Tourism program.
