About this opportunity:
This role provides support for cross-functional deliverables such as the annual budget, monthly forecast and long-range plan across Oil Sands and the Atlantic Region. This role contributes to the achievement of Cenovus’s goals by tracking the financial and operating performance of our assets against the annual business plan and budget. This role is accountable for critical inputs to the budget and long-range plan and supporting analysis.
The successful candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with competing responsibilities and deadlines.
What you’ll do:
Support building out the Atlantic Region long-range plan in PlanningSpace
Validate asset level information and calculations in PlanningSpace for accuracy and consistency
Compare and analyze different asset level scenarios and their impact on financial results
Understand risks and opportunities related to the long-range plan
Support the monthly forecast process for the Atlantic Region including identifying material changes and partnering with Finance to prepare, collect and validate forecast inputs. Ensure the forecast inputs are accurately captured in PlanningSpace
Analyze operating expenses by driver to identify risks to performance or opportunities to reduce costs. Prepare year-over year trend analysis
Work cross-functionally to gather enabling inputs to the long-range plan and budget (operating expenses and capital), accountable to build the annual project plan and work with partners to ensure timeliness and accuracy of inputs
Responsible for Managed G&A inputs to the long-range plan for Oil Sands and Atlantic Region
Prepare ad hoc analysis to track performance against the annual business plan and budget
Assist with preparation of materials (memos, presentations) for the Oil Sands and Atlantic Region leadership teams and Operations Management Team
Use best practices to find opportunities to improve internal processes
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Minimum 5 years of experience in oil & gas is required, preferably with corporate finance, accounting, asset development or operations knowledge
Completed a university degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a related field
Organized, adaptive and flexible to deliver time sensitive material
Prior experience with PlanningSpace and/or SAP would be an asset
