ROLE
The Inspector will be responsible to perform on-site inspections of hydro distribution installations. The Inspector’s objective is to monitor construction activities to ensure they are completed to relevant regulatory, safety and Client standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect Hydro Distribution for installations of 120V to 44kV for conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Review project details and contract specifications to ensure contractors have full understanding of scope of work and client expectations.
- Interact with contractors to ensure schedules are being met, advising of important timelines for construction.
- Record and finalize all changes approved by hydro utility Engineering department and on As-Built Drawings.
- Ensure correct materials are used on site.
- Collaborate with Field Coordinators to submit daily and weekly reports of construction activities, including major activities and progress updates.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering OR Powerline Technician certificate/Red Seal, or 309A
- Electrician’s licence, OR equivalent experience.
- Relevant industry experience- Utility industry experience is an asset.
- Understanding of Hydro Distribution Designs.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and other relevant safety codes and practices.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Working knowledge of power and communications industries.
- Computer skills.
- Field based role - requires use of own vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Field-based role requiring use of own vehicle to travel to various sites.
- Extensive walking outdoors over various terrain.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required as per safety standards

Expected Compensation: $30-50 per hour
