Calgary - Business Development Specialist

BIS Training Solutions is a fast-paced, high growth organization providing leading software for the safety industry. We are expanding our team and seeking an experienced, full-time, business development specialist for the Calgary region, who has a proven track record of success in generating sales results and managing key client accounts.

The successful applicant will be responsible for profitably growing our client base in Southern Alberta and abroad, through the development, execution, and follow through of effective sales strategies that foster development of positive long-term client relationships.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Be able to travel to attend tradeshows, make sales presentations, and provide client care
  • Work effectively remotely from home or client locations
  • Quickly and easily overcome client objections and rejections
  • Be an exceptional listener with the ability to quickly and accurately determine client needs and identify effective solutions for their resolution
  • Be extremely tech savvy and comfortable with constantly changing technology

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive knowledge of BIS products and programs
  • Effectively prospecting and qualifying potential clients to support long-term business growth
  • Generating, managing, and converting high-potential sales leads procured through a variety of mediums, including but not limited to tradeshows, social media, website submissions, mail campaigns, networking, SEO campaigns, and sales calls
  • Effectively onboarding new clients and providing exceptional ongoing care to existing ones
  • Working with the management and business development teams to develop and execute successful sales and marketing initiatives in line with corporate values
  • Tracking and reporting on business development efforts and revenue growth
  • Monitoring industry trends to identify and develop new sales and marketing propositions


  • Minimum five years’ proven business development experience
  • Strong computer skills including above average working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
