Purpose:
The School of Continuing Studies (SCS), with two main divisions - the English Language Institute (YUELI) and Continuing Professional Education (CPE), is a large and complex revenue-generating education enterprise serving the diverse needs of international students seeking pre-university English language education as well as domestic and international professionals seeking to upgrade their professional skills, change careers or obtain a Canadian education or credential. It is expected to generate a potential pool of undergraduate as well as graduate students for the University to achieve its degree program enrolment targets.Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the Business Systems Analyst is actively involved in the systems maintenance and operations portfolio to ensure quality customer service in systems processes and information needs for the entire School. The Business Systems Analyst is actively engaged in the timely set up and maintenance of systems according to the academic timetables. These include activities that support critical operations such as student application, course registration, fees collection, recruitment, teaching and learning, etc. In addition, the Business Systems Analyst responds to ad-hoc requests from students, faculties, staff and other administrative partners for value-add business information, systems issues resolution, general systems guidance and other queries.The Business Systems Analyst actively participates in discussions related to systems improvement opportunities and the corresponding proposals for system enhancement projects. The Business Systems Analyst is also responsible for supporting business process changes within the various systems of the School to increase the efficiency and effectiveness in how to support teaching/learning and operation needs of the School.
Education:
A relevant University degree, e.g. computer science, information technology, software engineering or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last 5 years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
2 years of experience in the maintenance and support of enterprise IT systems, including 1 year in a systems analyst capacity. Demonstrated experience in supporting enterprise applications. Hands-on experience in documenting processes and creating process flow. Testing experience including unit testing, functional testing, regression testing and UAT support. Experience in using project and resource management tools such as MS Project and Wrike
Skills:
Experience working with Application programming interfaces and related technologies. Knowledge of SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, PHP, Java. Experience with Moodle, Salesforce/Dynamics 365, Student Information System (such as Destiny One. Demonstrated expertise in liaising between business and IT in systems development and support. Excellent communications, analytical and problem-solving skills. Skillful in relationship building and time-management. Demonstrated strong technical writing skills to develop thorough, coherent and informative system and process flows and other documentation. Experience in creating process flow, data flow and entity relationship diagrams using a Unified Modelling Language (UML) tool such as Visio. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30.Summer: Friday hours reduced by 1 hour first weekend in June to Labour Day Weekend. Does this position involve overtime?
