As we continue to grow, we are looking for a dependable, organized, and proactive Dispatch Coordinator to join our team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of our transportation operations, ensuring timely deliveries while providing leadership and support to our drivers.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working with multiple computer systems in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Dispatching and coordinating a fleet of 7 delivery trucks.
- Managing and supporting drivers by providing schedules, delivery instructions, and resolving day-to-day issues.
- Monitoring driver performance and ensuring compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
- Managing electronic driver logs (E-Logs), Hours of Service, and other transportation records.
- Planning efficient delivery routes while maximizing fleet productivity.
- Communicating with customers regarding delivery schedules, changes, and service concerns.
- Working closely with the sales, production, and warehouse teams to coordinate shipments and delivery priorities.
- Tracking deliveries and responding quickly to delays, breakdowns, weather issues, or customer requests.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate dispatch, shipping, and transportation documentation.
- Monitoring driver availability, vacation schedules, and daily workloads.
- Assisting with freight scheduling and coordinating backhauls when appropriate.
- Ensuring all required transportation documentation is complete and up to date.
- Providing excellent customer service while maintaining positive relationships with customers, drivers, and coworkers.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to improve transportation efficiency.
- Providing occasional after-hours and weekend phone support when operational needs require.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software and transportation management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems under pressure.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of a team.
Assets (Not Required)
- Previous dispatching or transportation logistics experience.
- Previous commercial driving experience, particularly within the agriculture industry.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and Hours of Service requirements.
- Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs/E-Logs).
- AZ or DZ licence.
- Familiarity with agricultural products or livestock feed manufacturing.
