Nutrien is looking for an experienced and passionate professional to provide exceptional support and strategic guidance to Nutrien’s capital projects teams in the Potash Business Unit.
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Capital Procurement – Potash, who is located in Saskatoon. The Senior Advisor, Capital Procurement position will be located in Saskatoon or Rocanville. In collaboration with the site procurement team, and supported by Category Management, this position will support execution of over $600M in capital projects annually within the Potash Business Unit.
What you will do:
Lead development and execution of aligned sourcing processes and work plans supporting major capital projects
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best value for Nutrien is realized, balancing safety, quality, schedule, and costs
Recommend contracting strategies which best suit the project scopes, risks and desired outcomes, and earn internal stakeholder buy-in and approval for same
Effectively lead development and completion of evaluations and negotiations to the final award of a contract with all commercial and technical considerations managed to a best-in-class standard
Directly support and work with site procurement and Category Management team members executing various capital project requirements for the Potash Business Unit
Maintain relationships with key suppliers and service providers and be a champion of Nutrien’s Diversity and Inclusion efforts
Provide senior level leadership to our internal and external stakeholders and strongly collaborate to develop and execute aligned business and project strategies
Ensure compliance to company policies, procedures and best practices
Frequently engagement and collaboration with project teams at the potash operations, and therefore the successful candidate can expect an estimated 25% or more travel
What you will bring:
8+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing processes in mining, EPC/M or other industrial environments
Bachelor’s degree required – Business, Engineering or other technical discipline
SCMP designation is considered an asset, or equivalent designation, or work experience
Extensive experience in complex RFx development and execution
Extensive experience in negotiation of complex agreements for goods and services
Extensive experience in project procurement in heavy industrial settings
Ability to prioritize work in a very dynamic environment
Experience in SAP Ariba, SAP and Oracle is considered an asset
Ability to influence stakeholders and resolve conflict in an open, honest, and collaborative manner
Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills
Strong team player and critical thinker who understands the need for process while being dynamic and flexible, can sort and prioritize competing priorities, bring disparate viewpoints together under a common strategy and execute on value-add solutions
Highly proficient in legal and commercial contract negotiations involving multiple stakeholders
Ability to develop relationships with client groups at all levels – practitioner, manager, executive
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and adjust priorities when appropriate
Demonstrated ability to achieve best total cost of ownership and results through analysis and negotiations
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing major project sourcing strategies, supporting design, fabrication, equipment purchases, and services, gained through a procurement or project management background
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
