About the Job
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for handling all day-to-day financial operations including month-end close, payroll, tax compliance, internal controls, audits, reconciliations, financial reporting, vendor contract management, and cash management. You will adhere to high operational standards, including a closing cycle of 5 business days. A trusted partner within the business and to the executive team, you will support departments across the organization, ensuring we are performing against plan and providing advisory around investments, efficiency, and cost savings.
The finance department’s mission is to be the infrastructure that helps support Rewind’s growth over the long-term and ensure that we achieve our overall corporate objectives. This role will play a key part in Rewind’s expansion plans over the coming year. You can expect to:
Oversee and execute on the entire closing cycle in an accurate, timely, and complete manner to issue monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPI reporting packages to stakeholders including executive team, board of directors, investors, and banks
Conduct monthly variance analysis, forecasting, and operating model updates
Manage all bookkeeping, accounts receivables, accounts payable, and adhering to all obligatory reporting deadlines around bank covenants, tax compliance, payroll, audits, and SR&ED
Be an advisor to department leaders on their budgets, playing chief investigator on any operational issues, negotiating with vendors for contract reviews
Liaise with suppliers, government agencies, banks, and auditors as required
Develop internal controls and policies to improve governance
We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role or equivalent
You may have a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in accounting or finance, CPA is an asset (we’ll even pay for association dues)
You should have:
An obsession with accuracy
A passion for all things numbers. You are an analytical thinker who is very detail oriented with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
A familiarity with audit process and internal controls
A proven ability to take initiative and roll your sleeves up to get the job done
A strong ability to develop processes, rigorously document, and build frameworks to enable fast and efficient growth
An excitement to work in a fast moving and growing company
