Job Summary
The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for leading the store sales team, driving revenue, improving customer satisfaction, and ensuring daily retail operations run smoothly. This role involves supervising sales associates, setting sales goals, monitoring performance, managing inventory standards, and creating a positive shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and motivate retail sales staff to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints professionally.
- Train new employees on products, sales techniques, store policies, and customer service standards.
- Schedule staff shifts and ensure adequate store coverage.
- Maintain store appearance, merchandising standards, and product displays.
- Track inventory levels and coordinate restocking as needed.
- Support promotions, sales campaigns, and seasonal merchandising plans.
- Analyze sales trends and recommend improvements to increase revenue.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and cash handling procedures.
- Prepare sales reports and communicate performance updates to senior management.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions when required.
Required Qualifications
- Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience.
- Experience in a supervisory or management role preferred.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet sales targets and manage performance.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience managing a retail team.
- Knowledge of visual merchandising and sales reporting.
- Familiarity with retail KPIs such as conversion rate, average transaction value, units per transaction, and shrinkage.
