The Ontario Prevention Clinic / The PrEP Clinic is currently seeking a candidate for the full-time position of Pharmacy Services Manager / Pharmacist Team Lead. We are looking for a highly motivated, outgoing, and detail-oriented pharmacist to join our dynamic team.
The PrEP Clinic is a province-wide leader in online HIV prevention, and sexual health services. In addition to online care, we offer full-service in-person sexual health clinics and pharmacy services at three locations in Ontario. This position is for an on-site management role at our Toronto location to provide leadership to team members and care to both our in-person and distance-care patients. Most of our patients are members of the LGBTQ+ community and we support the delivery of queer-competent and culturally competent care.
We are not a typical community pharmacy and are a more outside-the-box practice with a fully integrated clinic and pharmacy team that operates as a single unit. Pharmacists are the main contact point for patients, helping to navigate them through the clinic experience, while supporting clinical decision-making, monitoring, and follow-up. Most interactions with patients are one-on-one office style appointments.
Some of the duties of the role include:
- Acting as direct manager for the pharmacist team (eg. leadership, scheduling, education, performance management)
- Liaising with the Patient Services Manager, Nurse Team Lead, and Clinical Lead in regard to day to day operations
- Collaborating with the Patient Services Manager, Nurse Team Lead, and Clinical Lead in the development and maintenance programs, initiatives, and clinical care
- Developing and updating Standards of Practice in the pharmacy as the need arises
- Supporting continuous education in the pharmacy
- Healthcare administration
- Supporting case management and navigating patient solutions
- Routine auditing of pharmacy practices (eg. billing, operations)
- Provide pharmacy services as a member of the pharmacy team (partial hours)
The applicant will receive additional training related to the healthcare admin/clinic side, however strong foundations in pharmacy practice and patient relation skills are essential. Experience in sexual health and/or HIV care is ideal but not required and you will receive significant onboarding and training. Due to the unique nature of our space, there is typically a learning curve at the start, but you will have significant support and a training period from the team.
You will have an opportunity to drive meaningful change for the people we care for and be a respected health team member.
The clinic strongly believes in equality, diversity, and actively engages in supporting antiracism in the workplace and for our patients. Team members are respected and recognized for their work and we have excellent camaraderie between team members. Patients and team members are put first and we are not a profit-driven environment. Experience with diverse patient populations, especially the LGBTQ+ community, is an asset and preferred.
Proficiency in additional language(s) is ideal but not required (higher demand languages for the clinic include: Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Arabic).
