Based in Sudbury, Ontario, Compass is the Lead Agency for child & youth mental health services for the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. The Digital Strategy Implementation Intern supports the implementation of key elements of the organization’s Digital Strategy. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital transformation, technology-enabled service improvement, policy and procedure development, training development, information systems implementation, project communications, and change management within a child, youth, family, mental health, developmental, and community services setting. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology and Digital Strategy, the Digital Strategy Implementation Intern supports the agency’s work to implement new tools and corporate information systems, research best practices in technology use, liaise with external consultants, and monitor progress on Digital Strategy outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the implementation of key elements of the organization’s Digital Strategy.
- Develop policies, procedures and training to support implementation of new tools.
- Research best practices and develop recommendations on technology use, including artificial intelligence.
- Support the implementation of new corporate information systems.
- Develop communications to support project and change management.
- Liaise with external consultants to support system implementation.
- Monitor and evaluate progress on Digital Strategy outcomes.
SKILLS
- Maintain sensitive and confidential information in accordance with agency policies and expectations.
- Work collaboratively with experienced professionals, cross-functional teams, vendors, and external consultants.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution, or current student nearing completion, in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Digital Strategy, Business Administration, Communications, Project Management, Data Analytics, Public Administration, Health Administration, or a related discipline.
- The appropriate education level for this role is a post-secondary college diploma, undergraduate degree, or graduate certificate in a relevant field. Prior professional work experience should not be required because this is a workforce-entry internship.
- Proficiency working in a computerized environment, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft 365, and common digital collaboration tools.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, analyse, solve problems and support practical solutions.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to develop a sound appreciation and knowledge of the Agency’s functions and organizational structure.
- Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, cross-functional teams, vendors, and external consultants.
- Ability to develop clear written materials, including procedures, training materials, project communications, summaries, and recommendations.
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance and supervision when required.
- Introductory knowledge of digital strategy, information systems, project coordination, change management, policy development, or training development is considered an asset.
- Introductory-level knowledge of technology trends and responsible technology use, including artificial intelligence, is considered an asset
- Knowledge and appreciation of issues facing diverse populations, including Indigenous communities, Francophone communities, immigrant/refugee communities, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and other equity-deserving groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required.
