Responsibilities
As a Concrete Batcher/Dispatcher, you will be responsible for:
- Taking and processing customer concrete orders
- Scheduling concrete trucks and coordinating drivers
- Batching concrete using a computerized batching system
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels
- Operating a front-end loader when required
- Working closely with drivers, customers, and plant personnel to ensure efficient daily operations
- Ensure NSC requirements are met and adhered to
- Verify driver DVIR's, FLRA's, Hours of Service, and other company requirements
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a ready-mix concrete plant (preferred but not required—we are willing to train the right candidate)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of the concrete or construction industry (an asset)
- Understanding of concrete mix designs
- Ability to manage truck fleets efficiently, reading maps, monitoring traffic, and tracking driver locations via GPS to ensure timely arrivals to sites.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Mechanical aptitude and technical competence
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a driver's abstract that meets company requirements
- Knowledge of Edmonton and surrounding areas
- Strong work ethic
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and overtime
- Ability to work in a high paced environment
- Physically fit (ability to climb, lift, and work outdoors in various conditions)
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
