Opportunity
Under the direction of the CFO, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing financial accounting, reporting, and regulatory activities. This role ensures accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, regulatory filings, and reinsurance accounting while providing guidance and supervision to accounting team members. The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining strong controls, enhancing processes, and supporting the organization’s financial integrity, allowing the CFO and leadership team to focus on strategy and decision-making.
How You Will Make a Difference
- Lead and support the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and supervision to the finance department.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review financial statements and assist with audits, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee regulatory and statutory reporting, including P&C returns, HST/RST filings, and actuarial reporting.
- Manage reinsurance and investment accounting, including reconciliations.
- Assist with budget preparation.
- Analyze financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and variances, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Monitor, review, and enhance internal controls to prevent errors and fraud.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall department performance.
- Assist with day-to-day accounting transactions and operational support as needed.
What We’re Looking For:
- CPA designation required; IFRS experience is an asset.
- 3-5 years experience supervising staff in a financial or accounting environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally with experience in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong team orientation, leadership ability, and professional demeanor.

Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000
Candidates with less experience than the stated requirements may be considered at a salary below this range. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.
