Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Machine Technician – Blown Film Extrusion to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, adjusting, and maintaining blown film extrusion equipment to ensure efficient production, minimize downtime, and produce high-quality plastic film products.
Responsibilities
- Set up blown film extrusion machines for production runs and product changeovers.
- Install and adjust dies, air rings, cooling systems, and machine components as required.
- Configure machine settings, including temperatures, pressures, line speeds, and film specifications.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
- Perform machine start-ups and ensure production meets quality standards.
- Work closely with Extrusion Operators to optimize machine performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs when necessary.
- Monitor film quality, including thickness, width, and appearance, and make process adjustments as required.
- Maintain accurate setup, maintenance, and production records.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Machine Technician, Process Technician, or Setup Technician in a blown film extrusion manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of blown film extrusion equipment and production processes.
- Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, production specifications, and machine manuals.
- Experience performing machine setups, changeovers, and process optimization.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience with blown film extrusion equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing, bending, and performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, or polyethylene film production.
- Knowledge of extrusion process optimization and quality control.
- Forklift certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
