Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our supply chain team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely availability of goods to support manufacturing operations. This role requires strong negotiation skills, familiarity with ERP systems such as NAV, and a solid understanding of procurement processes within a manufacturing environment. The Purchaser will play a critical role in optimizing supply chain efficiency and cost management while maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Source and select suppliers through effective vendor management, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to secure the best value for the company.
- Utilize ERP systems like SAP and other MRP tools to manage procurement activities, track inventory levels, and process purchase orders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine material requirements based on production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Monitor market trends and conduct sourcing activities to identify new suppliers or alternative materials.
- Manage procurement documentation, purchase requisitions, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, delivery schedules, and supplier performance metrics.
- Support supply chain initiatives by optimizing sourcing strategies to reduce costs and improve lead times.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any supply disruptions promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in purchasing within a manufacturing or supply chain environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms; experience with MRP is highly desirable.
- Excellent vendor management skills with the ability to negotiate effectively on pricing and terms.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and supply chain management principles.
- Ability to analyze market data and supplier performance metrics to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and negotiating with vendors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field is preferred but not mandatory.
