HELP REOPEN A SELKIRK LANDMARK
The Garry Theatre is preparing to welcome audiences once again.
Following years of community engagement, planning, fundraising, and renovation, the Garry Theatre is entering a new chapter as an independent, community-led, non-profit cultural venue. Generations of Selkirk residents have fond memories of the Garry, and today our community is bringing this historic gathering place back to life.
As we prepare for reopening, we're seeking friendly, community-minded individuals to join our Front of House team.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team that will welcome audiences back through the doors for the first time and help shape the guest experience from day one.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Front of House Team Members are the face of the Garry Theatre. From selling tickets and serving concessions to ushering, guest services, and theatre operations, you'll help create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for every visitor.
Successful candidates will be cross-trained in all front-of-house functions and support a variety of events, including films, live performances, community programming, and private rentals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome and assist patrons in a friendly and professional manner
- Sell and validate tickets and process transactions accurately
- Prepare and serve concession snacks and beverages
- Assist patrons with seating, accessibility needs, and general inquiries
- Maintain clean, organized, and inviting public spaces
- Support theatre operations, special events, and community programming
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for people who are friendly, reliable, customer-focused, strong communicators, and excited to contribute to a revitalized community landmark.
Previous experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, food service, arts, culture, or entertainment is an asset, but not required. Students, retirees, and individuals seeking flexible part-time employment are encouraged to apply.
HOURS OF WORK
- Part-time position
- Primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Hours vary depending on theatre programming and events
Compensation is $16.40 per hour. As a newly reopened community theatre, we're building something special with a team of people who care about service, community, and creating memorable experiences.

VOLUNTEER UPDATE
More than 200 community members expressed interest in volunteering with the Garry Theatre during the early stages of the reopening project. We're incredibly grateful for that support and will be reaching out shortly with information about volunteer opportunities and next steps.
