This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 2 days per week - subject to change at any time.
We are seeking a Data Modeling and Analytics Architect. This role involves hands-on data modeling and architectural guidance, focusing on developing data marts for analytics. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in data architecture, proficiency in SQL, and familiarity with cloud platforms. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Data Modeling & Architecture
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models, data marts, and semantic layers to support analytics and reporting needs
- Translate business requirements into efficient data structures and architectural solutions
- Balance high-level architectural design with hands-on data modeling activities
- Create and optimize database schemas and relational data models
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions
- Participate in requirements gathering and high-level design discussions
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Data Integration & ETL
- Design and support ETL workflows to integrate data from diverse source systems
- Ensure efficient data mapping and transformation processes
- Work with modern data platforms and cloud technologies to support scalable data integration
Governance, Documentation & Best Practices
- Develop and maintain documentation related to data architecture, models, and processes
- Promote and support data governance, security, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements
Support & Delivery
- Provide guidance and support to development teams during the build and testing phases
- Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, performance, and usability
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data practices and team capabilities
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data architecture and data modeling
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and optimizing data models and database schemas
- Minimum 3 years of experience integrating data from multiple sources and managing ETL workflows
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with cloud platforms and modern data technologies
- Strong expertise in:
- Data mapping and transformation processes
- SQL and relational databases
- Physical and logical data modeling for analytics
- Hands-on experience with RDBMS systems (e.g., MSSQL, Oracle)
- Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., Oracle SQL Data Modeler, UML, dimensional modeling)
- Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Understanding of data governance principles and data security practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115,000–$165,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
