We are currently hiring Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our client’s team at a major open-pit gold mining operation in Northwestern Ontario.
This project is set to become one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with expected annual production of approximately 400,000 ounces over an initial 14-year mine life, with additional long-term underground potential.

Ideal for candidates based in Northern Ontario or Northwestern Ontario with access to a regional airport. However, candidates from across Canada will be considered.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for providing repairs, overhauls and new builds to mining related equipment. This position will employ reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting functions.
Key Responsibilities

Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs and complete overhauls on heavy mining equipment according to schedule.

Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.

Make recommendations regarding extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.

Mentor apprentices.

Interpret work order and technical manuals. Two weeks' OEM onsite training supplied.

Complete job specific reports and paperwork.

Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety and follow all rules and legislation.

Keep a mine-owned service truck clean and equipped.
Experience/Skillset Required:

Red Seal Journeyperson Certification
-
Valid Drivers License
-
Experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Experience with Komatsu, CAT, Epiroc equipment is an asset.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.

Willing to perform repetitive tasks.

Comfortable working at heights.

Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.

Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
